Do you want to:
If you said YES to any of the above, the Pen Clinical Audit Tool may be for you! |
The Pen Clinical Audit Tool (CAT) is a piece of software that allows practice staff to look at their data in new ways for the achievement of best practice and data quality while optimising the financial opportunities for GPs and the Practice. GPNW have paid the software license for all practices in North West Tasmania, so it is FREE!
CAT scrutinises the aggregated patient information of the practice and presents it quickly and accurately in a refreshing graphical format that is easy to understand.
Practice staff can produce a list of patients who fall into selected population ‘target groups’ making population health and quality care initiatives simple to act upon and measure. Business opportunities can be identified.

Using worlds-best graphics, CAT is simple to use, seamless to implement and is a highly effective tool in improving patient population and business outcomes. Within minutes of installing the system it is ready to deliver for your practice. CAT operates with the GP Clinical Desktop System (currently Zedmed, MD3, MD2, Best Practice & Genie Solutions) to present the GP and practice staff with meaningful information on the practice population.
CAT can answer your practice population questions with just the click of a mouse!
What can the CAT tell me about my practice?
Below is just a small sample of the questions that the CAT can answer for your practice:

- Who are my patients with no allergy or smoking status recorded?
- Which of my patients have incomplete BMI details?
- Who are the patients on 8+ medications?
- Who are my female patients that are overdue for a Pap Smear?
Chronic Disease Management
- Who are my diabetics with an HbA1c > 7%?
- Who are my diabetic patients who have not had an HbA1c in the last 12 months?
- What is the drug treatment profile of my CHD patients?
- Which of my diabetic and CHD patients are smokers and overweight?
Patients at Risk
- Who are my patients that are NOT diagnosed with Diabetes or CHD, yet
- are 45 years and over, and
- are smokers, and
- are overweight, and
- have an elevated BP?
Practice Income Opportunities
- Which diabetes cycle of care items need to be completed for each diabetic patient to claim the Practice Incentive Payment (PIP)?
- Which females aged 20 – 69 years have not had a Pap Smear for over 4 years?
The tool currently works with Medical Director 2, 3, Best Practice, ZedMed and PracSoft
