Recent Changes to Membership

GPNW are very  pleased to announce that at the Special General Meeting that was held on 13th October 2010, a motion to change the GPNW  Constitution, to expand the membership of GPNW was unanimously agreed. Please see below for further details.

There is now no Subscription Fee for GPNW Membership and your membership is ongoing following initial sign up, with termination by written notice of resignation.

Overview

General Practice North West (GPNW) is involved in a wide range of activities aimed at supporting and enhancing the whole of general practice.  These are activities that can benefit you and general practice.

To do this effectively we need to involve as many General Practice Professionals as possible, so that we truly reflect your needs and views.  Your Membership gives us the capacity to speak on your behalf in a forthright and independent manner and allows GPNW to have a significant influence on the shaping of the future of general practice.

Members

The recent GPNW Membership expansion means that Membership is now open to:

  • General Practitioners and General Practice Registrars who are engaged in General Practice in the Region;
  • Nationally registered primary health care professionals who satisfy the Board that they work in a General Practice in the Region or in close clinical association with a General Practice in the Region;
  • Practice Managers of any General Practice in the Region; and
  • Students studying full time for any nationally registered primary health care profession who are resident in the Region.

Benefits of Membership

As a member of GPNW, you:

  • Add your support to a pro-active and general practice focused organisation.
  • Have an opportunity to join with other members in voicing your opinion on key primary care issues.
  • Nominate to the GPNW Board of Directors or nominate other members.
  • Have full voting rights at GPNW Annual General Meeting and other official member’s meetings.

You also receive a variety of services for yourself and your practice as GPNW is committed to improving capacity and strengthening general practice in the region.

Services to you/your practice

GPNW provides a variety of services to you and your practice and is committed to improving capacity and strengthening general practice in the region. 

During the past year you/your practice have received a variety of services from GPNW, including:

  • Practice support
  • New doctor support
  • Immunisation support and information
  • Vocational training – GPs, Practice Nurses, Practice Managers and Practice staff
  • Orientation new staff – workforce support
  • PHA/Pen CAT Tool – IT/IM support
  • Resources

We urge you to confirm your membership of GPNW to ensure that a strong voice for North West Tasmanian general practice is maintained.

Non Members

Non members are not discriminated against and have access to the majority of benefits.

The exceptions are:

  • Not entitled to nominate as a Board Member
  • Not entitled to nominate other members to the Board
  • Not entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting
